Masterson’s Tavern , nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my latest trip at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I experienced behind its doors was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .
Cleanliness Issues : Squalid and Neglected
From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority at this establishment . The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of decaying beverages and uncleaned toilets permeated the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of urine , putrefaction and a sickly smell. The bar area , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and litter that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . From reading other reviews and talking to people around , it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at this so-called establishment is a recurring complaint. Many customers have reported seeing bugs darting across the serving surface and evidence of rodent infestations in the bar and house area browse . For a business that serves drinks , these issues are absolutely intolerable and raise serious concerns about the integrity of anything they serve .
